The first-ever BATTLETECH expansion comes complete with three new ‘Mechs (including the highly anticipated Hatchetman), a challenging new mission type, and a new tropical biome, along with its featured namesake, Flashpoints. Flashpoints are high-stakes branching short stories, comprised of procedural mercenary missions linked together with new crew conversations, special events, critical choices, and valuable rewards. To ramp up the intensity, some Flashpoint stories will feature “Consecutive Deployments” in which players won’t be able to repair their ‘Mechs between missions.

• New BattleMechs - Get your ‘Mech on with the armor-chopping power of the Hatchetman, the speed and versatility of the Crab, and the multi-range firepower of the Cyclops.
• New Encounter - In “Target Acquisition”, you’ll put your light and medium ‘Mechs to good use by taking control of three territories on the map to prevail!

Nice. Now, let´s see how many months HBS+Paradox will need to put the darn thing to properly work, instead of screwing ten things for each one they fix.

Anychance for Battletech on Xbox as a download?

Nothing have ever come out to = Mech Warrior 3. Is this another Micro Transaction Game????

Flashpoint DLC and no Flashmen Mech? :-(

How about you put it on console, you are neglecting a review stream from those markets?

Yes... YES...YESSSSSSS!!
FINALLY!

I see that Team Banzai logo on the mech. That takes me way back.

I'd love a new BattleTech adventure. Just this time, give us larger scale battles and a well told story with interesting characters. The latter was abysmal in the first installment.

But can you add an option to skip all the long drawn out enemy movement animations?

Really looking forward to new short story missions. Playing the skirmish style end-game got old fast for me.

I seriously hope they are not just going to do mech packs . .
I mean . . there are entire campaign books that they could convert to the PC game and sell for about 20 bucks while also slowly advancing the timeline! The succession wars, the ronin wars, the snords irregulars and and and!

Waited more than twenty years for a decent BattleTech game. Have to wait until November for expansion. I'm never going to make it. Tell.....Darius.....he sucks.

I love Battletech and I love your work, HBS, but... really? Chained missions, one new biome and a few new mechs? That just doesn't seem to justify a buying a DLC for. Heck, chained missions should have been in the base game, if we're being honest.

Still, I guess I'll be holding out for a good sale or a bundle in the future.

So is Battletech like XCOM? I've seen mixed reviews on steam but it is on sale now and I'm thinking about getting it

I like to think of BATTLETECH as XCOM meets MechCommander. They even use the MC logo upside-down as the 'A'.

You are most welcome. I hope you enjoy the game at least as much as I did.

Hey man that's a great explanation and yeah taking a second look at the reviews it makes sense, I'm a sucker for turn based strategy games (specially with badass mechs), although I have zero tabletop experience but I'm assuming that doesn't matter too much here. Anyway definitely getting it thanks to your insight.

In some ways, yes. It's not a cover-based tactical RPG but it is a tactical RPG. It has some of X-COM's ass-kicking difficulty spikes, but no campaign deadlines, at least until Flashpoint comes out. There are in-mission timers occasionally, and of course, you have to keep an eye on operating costs, the only real campaign deadline. Lots of noobs go bankrupt.

Your mechwarriors can be injured, and it's almost as annoying as it is in XCOM. You can only deploy four at a time, and they take quite a while to level to competence, so a good pilot getting hurt can really cost you. They can also be insta-killed by lucky headshots or mech destruction. However, there is an eject button to get them out of tough scrapes, just don't wait too long to push it. My rule of thumb is "If you think he can go just one more round without dying, he can't."

You can upgrade your ship, rather than building a base, and thank God for the Medbay upgrades. Before them, it's entirely possible to have a pilot out of action for the better part of a year in game time. That could be around 15 missions. Space is big, it takes a long time for you to get anywhere, even with FTL jumpships.

I'm not gonna lie, the game can be punishing. But that's what life is for a mercenary company in the Periphery. It frustrates a lot of players to begin with, probably most of the negative reviews you've seen. They're scrubs, they suck, and they whine. The only legitimate bad reviews were the hardware issue ones, and that has all been fixed, to my knowledge. I've been playing almost since release and only had two bugs. As long as your GPU and RAM are up to snuff, you'll be fine running it. About the worst problem it has is occasional frame skipping.

Other than that, it's a lot of fun. I got 400 hours out of it over three playthroughs, I'm about to do a fourth. First time, I got my ass stomped, and I am a veteran of the tabletop game. This is a little different. I didn't go bankrupt, but I could barely cover my operating costs. Then I lost two pilots and gave up. Second go-round, I beat the campaign, but I kind of scraped by. Some of my best mechs were trashed, I had a couple of injuries in the last mission, and I didn't have everything I wanted. Third time was a charm, I blew the hell out of the campaign, had all the gear I wanted, and enough money in the bank to buy a planet, not that you can, yet. If you're willing to put in the time and take the lumps, you should buy BattleTech.

Love this game, and I love that they added a 'Mech, but there are plenty of others to add too: the Chameleon and every other 'Mexh produced in or before 3025...they could even add the re-imaged unseen 'Mechs which would make my day.

Paradox, I know you are reading this. This shit is the way you get your hands on my money. More battletech!

THREE new Mechs? Are you kidding us? Unless they were called Warhammer, Marauder and Battlemaster, that wouldn't be enough.

Hey man the whole team was too busy adding a gazzilion genders to bother with such mere things like a decent amount of mechs or classes. :p

Shame there's so many "Waa waa my localization" weepers.
Am just here happy there's a Battletech game that doesn't suck donkey dong.
The load times are a hassle but ey, i waited even longer for a official BT game that's not a Freemium game to be out.

Yeah MW:O isn't... quite the Mechwarrior experiences some lot like.
Alot like the linear stories of the numerical titles (Such as i) and thoroughly enjoyed the sandbox-like enviroment that was the Mercenary titles (such as i)
However... i just view MW:O as any other freemium games, too tedious and repetetive even with cash included.
Am tired of games like Warthunder, WoT, Robocraft and Crossout who had these vehicular 5v5-30v30 battles in a arena and a crapton of grinding.

MW:O lacks the form of Logistics other Battletech games had.

Hopefully MW5 won't be a bummer.
It doesn't have to be good, i just don't want it to be bad.

+Black Spectre i played through beta, through the first 2 years of mwo(starting with alpha, and finally lost interest when the inner sphere fanboys destroyed the feel of a game that was perfected in mercenaries. The mechs were boring and overbalanced. The solution of the devs from the start was removing what's fun about piloting a big hulking mech: lots of guns, er ppc, lrms, and srms. The more the merrier. The more mechs, the more tactical skill needed to run in a lance. Most of the mechs didnt even feel like mechs and by the end of my play it felt like if you wanted a proper collection of mechs you had to buy the real money copies which had better armor, weapon slots, and gave you a tactical advantage over actual players who worked their way up from nothing to buy mechs from matches. Normally, id say get over it but no matter what i did, or how many patches they dropped, it never felt like Mechwarrior. Sure, piloting a mech is always a blast but i gained a better experience from hawken.

finally a Hatchetman to pilot in a video game. how totally awesome that is. how about adding the Axman and Beserker. yea I know in later years, which means more expansions to buy. but i'm down for every expansion HBS puts out. been a BattleTech/mechwarrior fan since the 80s and am not going to stop now.

Yay... another paradox DLC where you get an expansion of the original game by 5-10% for just 50% of the original price :)
Have you ever considered expansions like they did for the Witcher 3? You know the old fashinoed way? Not a million little ones with many features, that should have been in the game in the first place, but actually expansions that deserve that name and are worth the money? Does every single one of your games need to produrce DLCs that cost in total ten times of what the original game costs?

And before anyone writes "you do not need to buy the dlcs". Imagine yourself ordering a burger for 3$ and you get only bread and meat. Afterwards you are offered salad for 1$, sauce for 1,5$, fries for 50 cents each and a tomato for 1$. What would you say in that case?

I mean seriously: In HOI4 you sell a game just to release the unit models a month later for extra money. What is planned for the next game? DLC for a mini map, DLC for sound, DLC for a coloured version of the game?

HATCHETMAN !

For the love of all that is holy, let one of the new mechs be a Charger.

I wish sensors were more important. Electronic countermeasures, long range sensors, seems the role of Light Mechs could be greatly improved by allowing them to fulfill a more critical recon role.

Awww yeaaahhh the Hatchetman. Been waitin’ for her.

okay so one question, i cant find a loadout that matches the shown hatchet man...looks like 2 lrm 10s, 2 medium lasers, and 2....uh somthings....auto cannons? no way you could fit that much onto a 45 ton mech...any thoughts?
